Metal Oxidation
Miks has developed three collections of oxidised metal, including brass, copper and natural black iron.
Metal Oxidation - One of a Kind
Metal oxidation is a process where a metal object is processed with a chemical solution, specially mixed for each kind of metal and for the desired outcome. This process requires a skilful craftsman who can create the right dilution and supervises the oxidation process.
Each type of metal has its own characteristics and possible reactions with the chemical solutions. Miks sees the true potential in each piece of metal. Every project differs in form, size and structure, therefore the outcome of the metal oxidation process is always one of a kind.
Metal Finish - Matte and Polished
The metal oxidation is a never ending process. Each metal changes its character when it is in contact with air or liquids. The right metal finish is extremely important in order to stop the oxidation process and preserve the metal object.
Matte finish absorbs light and therefore darkens the oxidised metal. Polished finish reflects light and emphasises the rich colours of the oxidised metal.
Oxidised brass
Brass can oxidise in golden mirror, brown, purple, dark blue and black tones.
Oxidised Copper
Copper can oxidise in ruby, golden, brown, purple, grey, dark blue and black tones.
Rouge Copper
Copper Fume
Gradient Copper
Twilight Copper
Oxidised iron
Natural iron can oxidise in dark blue and black tones.
